Sharing Vulnerability

Today because of a kind soul named Susan, I went to a business networking meeting. I am grateful for her kindness. Thank you, Susan.

I walked into the meeting with my walker. Right away, A woman came up to me and asked me… what was my story. I hesitated for a moment and said what do you mean? She shared she has a prosthetic leg. I told her about my MS. Because of my walker, she saw my vulnerability and felt comfortable enough with me to share hers.

Son of a gun. Most times, we all go through life trying to be less vulnerable. We try to live up to a friend, a relative, a neighbor, a person… The grass is always greener on the other side. We are constantly trying to live up to…. but does it really exist? Are we chasing a phantom? Is it easier with a comfortable, kind soul to share your vulnerability? If they, laugh at you or ridicule you does it tell you something about them and their character and depth? ???? If by you sharing, will a chain reaction occur? Will they share their your vulnerability with you? Did a deeper relationship just develop? Is that showing your strength? Is your vulnerability your strength? Interesting? Is is emotion risk…and reward? Think about it.
